Patch 1.2.0.1 is live - mutagen drops up to 3%, baby Trex speed capped
Brotato: Primal Dread

The 17 new weapons

Quick answer

Primal Dread adds 17 new weapons. Mecha-path runs can evolve weapons with mecha parts and dismantle mecha weapons in the shop to farm more parts. Patch 1.2.0.0 also raised the odds of seeing a weapon you already own from 20% to 23%.

Seventeen new weapons is the number on the store page, and it is the number this page will not pad out with invented names. What can be documented is how the DLC changes the way weapons behave, which for most players matters more than a list of names they will meet in the shop anyway.

Two systems do the heavy lifting: the Mecha path, which lets you evolve weapons with mecha parts, and the 1.2.0.0 shop changes, which decide how often the game offers you the weapon you actually want.

Mecha, in weapon terms

Mecha parts reinforce weapons. That is the official line, and it has a consequence most people miss on their first run: in a Mecha build, a weapon is not a finished purchase, it is a slot you are going to invest in.

The second half of the system is dismantling. Mecha weapons can be dismantled in the shop for more mecha parts. That gives the path a weapon-specific economy: you can buy a mecha weapon you do not intend to keep, break it down, and convert the materials into Evolution. It is a way to turn a bad shop into progress.

Put together, the two halves mean the Mecha path cares about which weapons you keep, not just how many. A weapon you will dismantle in two waves is a worse investment than a weapon you will evolve three times.

1.2 shop maths

The free update shipped a set of shop changes that affect every weapon purchase, DLC or not. They are small percentages with large effects over a run.

ChangeBeforeAfterWhat it does to your shop
Chance to be offered a weapon you already own20%23%Your existing weapons level up more often, so wide weapon pools are less necessary
Early-wave bonus on that chance5%7%The first waves are more likely to reinforce what you already carry
Bonus per different weapon ownednone+2% each, up to 6Owning variety increases your odds of seeing more of it
Chance to be offered a weapon of your classnone+1% per different weapon owned, up to 6Class synergy is now rewarded at the shop level

The practical read: the game now pushes you toward a coherent six, not a random six. If you own six different weapons, you get a meaningful boost to both duplicate offers and class offers. If you own four copies of the same weapon, you get neither.

Reload and draw fixes you will feel

Two lines in 1.2.0.0 are not shop maths but change how weapons handle:

  • Long reloads now keep scaling with attack speed after the normal cooldown hits its minimum, for the Revolver, Combat Shotgun, Chain Gun, Chainsaw and Grenade Launcher. Before the fix, stacking attack speed on those weapons hit a wall; now it does not.
  • Weapons are always drawn on top of other entities. In a screen full of dinosaurs and acid pools, that is a readability fix, and readability is a real defensive stat.

Both changes apply to base-game weapons, which matters if your DLC run is built on old favourites rather than new toys.

How to judge a new weapon in the Jungle

The Jungle changes what a weapon is worth, because the enemy set changes. Three questions sort most of the seventeen.

Does it cover a region or a point? Packs charge out of the undergrowth in groups. A weapon that hits one enemy at a time is worse here than it is in a corridor map, because the threat arrives as a wave front rather than a queue.

Does it keep working while you move? Oil puddles and acid pools both punish standing still. A weapon that requires you to hold position to maintain damage is a liability on either Evolution path.

Does it survive being evolved? If you are on Mecha, the weapon you evolve is the weapon you keep. High-value single-target weapons evolve into better single-target weapons; the mecha system does not turn a sniper into a crowd clearer.

No weapon list, and why

It does not have the seventeen names, because the DLC shipped without a public weapon list and the store page only gives the count. It does not have damage numbers, cooldowns or reach values, because none of those are published. If you want a list of names, the in-game shop is the authoritative source, and it will show you all seventeen faster than any guide can.

What it does have is the part most guides skip: how the weapon economy changed, and why the Mecha path makes weapon choice a longer-term decision than it used to be.

For the item side of the same economy, see the 40 new items. For how weapons fit into a full build, see builds and synergies.
